What kind of content I post: At the moment mainly blogging about my life, which may or may not be a tough sell for people who don't already know me, but I also have been known to write meta and fic or make the occasional grapic or fan-mix. Sometimes I post about disability or mental illness or gender. I've been flinging random stuff at tumblr for close to nine years now, so it's hard to pin down exactly what kind of Content™ I post

Access/commenting policies: I've been keeping things largely restricted to my Access List, but I'm very happy to add people

Anything else?: Nothing much! I'm non-binary and I'm 31, I hope to one day run away and form a commune with my closest friends and keep alpacas, but I am currently in university as a mature student studying science. I'm apprehensive about the current Tumblr Nonsense, but I'm also pretty excited to give Dreamwidth a proper go and I'm looking forward to adding new and old friends to my reading list.

i like discworld, and star trek, but farscape and babylon five are still on my sci fi to watch list ... some day ... i still have so much star trek to get through! everyone needs to pause making tv shows so i can get through my backlog!

!!! Oh wow, this is a highly select club we're in, how cool! I'm studying physics and chemistry. I'm still a first-year undergrad and have no clue what I want to Do with my degree once I get it, but this is a problem for future me.

Farscape and Babylon 5 are swell, I think you'll really like them when you get to them. And, god, I hear you. There is so much Must Watch tv, it's quite stressful. One of the joys of Star Trek for me is that there's so much of it to get through though and you're never truly finished, because the fandom is so immense.

It hasn't steered me wrong so far!

Oh that's a neat combination!! I use my love for Animal Facts to offset my terrible memory and concentration at uni but it sadly fails me when it comes to numbers, formulas, symbols and chemical structure. So I admire both subjects from something of a distance although, ironically, I've been teaching chemistry to first years as a lab assistant! ..... my lab book has VERY exhaustive notes in it, lmao.

It's reassuring to see someone further along the line than me managing to get along with memory and concentration issues! There is a lot more memorisation and less working things out in my course than I anticipated, which has given me some pause. I'm hoping that this is just a first year thing, because we have to cover such a breadth of material to get all the basics down.

Yeah I confirmed after graduation that I have some banging adhd that'd never been identified or treated. Hoping to have it a little under control for grad school, but who knows. I was gonna ask which semester but you've got to be in second semester, right? Or are your semesters just wild over where you are? Wait, are they opposite?? I'm bugging myself out here

ANYWAY

I was gonna say I found that memorising things did get easier with practice - even from first to second semester but definitely in second year, it wasn't like things got EASY but ... yeah. Had more of a groove with it. Hopefully you do get less of it later in your courses, but you may find you surprise yourself with what you can do!

I used to print past exams out, look everything up to fill them out, then print them out again and try to answer them blind, then go through and correct/expand my answers. Very helpful

Do NOT underestimate the power of stupid memory things, the stupider the better, I mean stuff like okay I have to remember this word with the letters P and O in it means for something to go outward: P and O means poo goes out. My study group and I remembered all the damn birds for a bird ID quiz with shit like remembering a particular one had a name starting with "pub" because it looked scruffy and like it'd be thrown out of a pub (if you can get other students you share classes with into facebook chat groups to collab on class stuff/study together/ask questions of each other/see lecturers together it's the BEST!!!).

I'm just at the end of semester one - semester two starts in January for us.
