New friends?

My tumblr url: [tumblr.com profile] notenoughmoomins

Other sites: My twitter handle is the same as my tumblr, but it's really just me re-tweeting about Finnish politics, so it isn't likely to be all that interesting.

My fandoms: MCU, Riverdale, Spartacus, Thorki, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Good Omens, Mass Effect, the Magicians, Jane Austen, Hamilton.

Non-fandom interests: Tabletop RPGs, travelling, language learning, lurking in fandoms, dogs, education, reading & audiobooks, bingeing tv-shows, keeping this journal, larping, history, politics, video games, teaching

What kind of content I post: Here's the thing. My journal is hopelessly mundane. I was a lurker on Tumblr because I love watching fandom and all the things fans create. I'll write fanfic myself once in a blue moon, but mostly I'll post meta on whatever media I've consumed, or just about every day stuff: work, hobbies, life, etc. I run a tabletop RPG, and sometimes I might write about that. I'm not likely to post anything NSFW, but I enjoy seeing it on my own reading page.

Access/commenting policies: I friend lock posts fairly often, but I give access quite easily. I'm on DW because I enjoy the social aspect of it, after all. I'm in my 30's, and I feel most comfortable only adding people who are also adults.

Anything else?: LJ/DW was my original internet "home", so I'm actually really happy to be back here. I'm really interested to see what the Tumblr generation can bring to this style of social media.

I'll happily add you! I'm trying to get into tabletop gaming (I don't know people where I live right now, which complicates things!) and in general we just seem compatible. I don't know what I'm gonna do with my journal, to be honest, but I know I want to get into using it this year.

Hello! We only have MCU as the common fannish interest, but I'm a fellow lurker who likes to read about other people's lives besides the fannish stuff. I also saw your (very old) post about the t-shirts in Universal Studios, and found it amusing because I had the same exact thoughts when I was there this year. Adding you!

ever expanding circles...

Hi Unikorento- I'm also a returning LJ/DW user. I've been back a month now- and I forgot how much I like this level of personal interaction! So many people to talk with! I often connect with folks outside of fandom here.

I like to have as many international peeps on my reading page as possible, because being Canadian means being swamped by USA (all day-all the way) - it's nice to be reminded that other people exist in other places. I'm going to subscribe if that's OK?

whew. You are So Right! I've been trying to find a balance between 'being well informed' and 'pulling my hair out' over issues outside of my control.
Frankly- I"m terrified by the increasingly bold neo-nazis and their supporters in the conservative 'alt-right'.

You're from Finland - is that correct?

Hey, welcome back! We have MCU in common, so I'm subscribing. Not all of the communities here are super active, but there are some fun places you can try and meet people (and a few Thorki resources you can lurk through retroactively. I know I've been reading tons of hidden gems since setting up my blog!)

Here's a Masterlist of Community Masterlists. I recently put one together specifically for the MCU so most of the comms on that one should be alive.

Obviously it's no where near as active as we're all used to, but we're working hard to get some plates spinning. At the moment we're working on DW style reblogs, and we think we've found something workable, so if we can get people comfortable with the format then DW may become a friendlier place for curators and lurkers like you.

I hope these resources help you settle in, feel free to hit me up you have any questions!

Hi, I'm on the lookout for other grown up people (I'm from the early 70's) to add to my circle. At the moment my profile isn't that meaningful, I'm just getting my toes wet here.
I hope to get more active here, since I mostly lurked on tumblr.

Your tumblr username is correct: there are never enough moomins.

I'm late to the party here, but I've been scrubbing through the posts in this community, and do you mind if I friend you? I'm into tabletop gaming and hopelessly mundane daily posting too, and I am so here for a revivial of LJ/DW as a nice internet home. I still miss the heyday of LJ. (Also it's really nice to see another over-30 around!)
